subforge — Copyright & Takedown Policy

Effective date: June 2026
Last updated: 16 June 2026

subforge hosts content uploaded by its users. We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. This policy explains how to report content you believe infringes your rights, and what we do about repeat infringers. It forms part of the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Reporting infringing content (takedown notice)

If you are a rights holder (or authorised to act for one) and believe content on subforge infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to [email protected] (or [email protected]) including:

  1. Your name, organisation (if any), and contact details.
  2. Identification of the work or rights you say are infringed.
  3. The specific location of the allegedly infringing content on subforge (e.g. the repository, path, and/or URL) — enough for us to find it.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on the rights holder's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Please send accurate notices. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation may expose you to liability.

2. What we do when we receive a valid notice

  • We will review the notice and, where it appears valid, remove or disable access to the identified content, generally promptly.
  • We will make reasonable efforts to notify the affected user, including a copy of the notice (with your contact details, so they can respond or send a counter-notice — bear this in mind when reporting).
  • We may record the notice for our repeat-infringer records (Section 4).

3. Counter-notice (if your content was removed)

If you believe your content was removed in error or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to [email protected] including:

  1. Your name and contact details.
  2. Identification of the content that was removed and where it appeared.
  3. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your signature.

We will consider counter-notices reasonably and in good faith. Where we are satisfied the complaint was mistaken or cannot be substantiated, we may restore the content, unless we are legally required to keep it removed.

4. Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. We keep records of notices to support this.

5. Other rights and unlawful content

This policy focuses on copyright. To report other unlawful content (e.g. trademark misuse, privacy violations, or content breaching the Acceptable Use Policy), contact [email protected].

6. No legal advice

This policy describes our process; it is not legal advice. If you're unsure of your rights, seek independent legal advice.
