subforge — Cookie Policy

Effective date: June 2026
Last updated: 20 June 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how subforge uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

The short version

subforge uses two types of browser storage:

  1. An essential session cookie to keep you signed in — always active, no consent needed.
  2. Analytics data via PostHog stored in browser local storage — only active if you click Accept analytics in the banner shown on your first visit. You can decline or change your mind at any time.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social-media trackers, and we do not sell your data.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Sites also use similar technologies such as localStorage (local browser storage) for similar purposes. Both are covered by this policy.

Essential cookie

Cookie Purpose Type Duration
subhub-session Keeps you authenticated after you sign in. Stores an opaque token only — no personal data inside the cookie itself. Strictly necessary Up to 7 days

This cookie is set with the HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax flags. Because it is strictly necessary to provide the Service you have requested, UK cookie law (PECR) does not require consent for it.

Analytics storage (optional — consent required)

If you click Accept analytics, subforge enables PostHog analytics. PostHog stores data in your browser to track usage across page loads.

Storage key Purpose Type Duration
ph_phc_…_posthog (localStorage / cookie) Identifies your browser session so PostHog can associate page views and events. For signed-in users this is linked to your username. Analytics Up to 1 year

PostHog processes this data on servers in the EU (Ireland). See Sub-processors and the Privacy Policy for more detail.

If you click Decline, no PostHog storage is written and no analytics events are sent from your browser.

Consent and how to change it

A consent banner is shown on your first visit. Your choice is remembered in browser localStorage (subforge_cookie_consent). To change your decision:

  • Clear browser data for subforge.sh, or
  • Clear site data in your browser's developer tools — the banner will reappear on your next visit.

We may add a dedicated preference page in future.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the subhub-session cookie will prevent you from staying signed in. Blocking PostHog's storage has no impact on core functionality.

Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows when it last changed.
